"Thanks so much for the wonderful comic book on iron ore smelting. I learned so much from it. I had never thought of the war economy and its impact on forests. I had heard that the forests of Bukkapatna (in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk) were felled for charcoal but never knew the reason until I read this comic. Thanks so much for bringing out this wonderful piece."

This is such an interesting way of presenting research insights. Quite nicely presents the research story. I liked how it also weaves the field observations in the story- on the dog's collar, perception of distance along with researchers' dialogues with each other etc. Enjoyed going through it. I must confess that I might not have shown this much interest in reading a journal article on iron smelting in India. Graphics surely caught my eye. :) Congratulations to the artist and the researchers.

Thank you so much for sharing your fascinating work with me. The graphic novel format is just brilliant and I so enjoyed reading this I will be putting it straight on my syllabi for next term’s teaching.

It seemed to me like an animated research report. When I first saw the topic, I wasn't particularly fascinated by it (😅) but the way the "story" unfolded I found it really interesting and engaging to read. Putting characters to the topic makes it so much more real and connectable ... Also, all elements of a sound research unfold but so organically … like a historical account, research questions, data collection and analysis.
